Kyle B. Locke, 27, of Palm Harbor, Fla.
CWO- 4 Terrence W. “Terry” McGuire
Jr., 79, of Westwood, Mass. He served for more
than 30 years and saw action in the Korean
and Vietnam wars. He was a member of the
1stMarDiv who fought at the Chosin Reservoir in Korea, and his awards include the Bronze
Star. He retired in 1976. He was president of
the 1stMarDiv Assn., 1988-91.
Cpl Gerald McHale, 85, of Henderson,
Nev. He was a WW II veteran who fought at
Guadalcanal, Peleliu and New Guinea.
MGySgt Earl McNamara, 91, of Corona,
Calif. His 30 years of active duty included
service in Korea, Japan, the Philippines, China
and two tours in Vietnam. He went on to become a respected community leader and volunteer. He served eight years on the Corona
Planning Commission, and the Creste Verde
Park was a direct result of his efforts. He was
a volunteer at the Corona Senior Center and
an activist for all senior citizens.
SSgt Richard S. Miner, 59, of Huntsville,
Ala. He was a Vietnam veteran who served
from 1969 to 1975.
Charles R. “Bob” Monkman, 70, of Clinton, Ill.
William R. Muterspaw Jr., 80, of Beaver-creek, Ohio. He was a WW II veteran.
Vincent T. “V. T.” Nephew, 84, of Potosi,
Mo. He spent three years in the Civilian Conservation Corps and enlisted in 1942. He served
as a paramarine with the lstMarDiv in the South
Pacific where he earned two Purple Hearts.
Capt Dick “Spider” Nowell, 82, of Huntington Beach, Calif. He was a WW II veteran
who served at Bougainville and Iwo Jima. He
also played professional football for the New
York Giants.
George W. Ochoa, 85, of Agua Dulce,
Texas. He was a veteran of WW II who saw
action on Iwo Jima and later during the Korean War. He received two Purple Hearts.
Larry L. Osborne, 61, of Brookville, Ohio.
He was a Vietnam veteran who earned the
Purple Heart. He was an avid sports fan and
played many years with the “Rockers” softball team.
LtCol Harold B. Penne, 90, of Alexandria,
Va. He was a WW II naval aviator. He later
commanded an attack squadron in Korea and
was a MAG XO and later commanded a transport squadron. He was a participant in the
Pensacola Thousand Aviator Study, and after
retiring from active service joined Naval Intelligence Command.
Col Allen L. Phillips, 85, of Fort Worth,
Texas. His 26-year career included WW II as
well as the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was
twice wounded in combat.
Roy H. Poston, 65, in Dayton, Ohio. He became disabled and wheelchair-bound and allegedly became the first pilot with a disability
to fly in a major air show (Dayton Air Show,
1981). He was a leader of the local, state and
national disability rights and independent living movements.
Richard H. Potrzeboski of St. Louis. He
was a WW II veteran and later battalion chief
