Clayton W. Steele, 84, of Framingham, Mass.
He was a WW II veteran who served with the
1stMarDiv on Guadalcanal.
Doris B. Stefanek, 86, of Norristown, Pa.
She was a WW II veteran who served at Parris Island, S.C.
TSgt Ernest J. Tracosas, 83, in Toms River,
N.J. He was a WW II veteran who also served
as an Army captain in the Korean War. He was
a private contractor and had a career in construction and worked in managerial roles for
Nico Construction.
Willie Vila, 83, of Tampa, Fla. He was one
of seven brothers who served in the military.
A WW II veteran, he saw action on Guadalcanal, New Guinea, Palau, New Caledonia and
Okinawa. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
Steven G. Wade, 53, of Shelbyville, Ill.
Cpl Thaddeus J. Wagner, 69, of Depew,
N. Y. He served from 1956 to 1959 at MCAS
Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. He later worked in machine repair and was a volunteer firefighter
for 25 years. His three sons were all Marines,
and his grandson is serving with Wpns/1/8 in
Iraq.
Thomas R. Walsh, 64, of Wentzville, Mo.
He owned and operated Walsh Insulation in
Jefferson City.
Annette E. (Edwards) Wandrick, 69, of
Stafford County, Va. Although not a Marine,
she worked for 44 years with the Department
of the Navy and retired as secretary to the Marine Corps University president. She was a
volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
Richard F. “Crusher” Ward, 72, of Brookline, Mass. He was a veteran of the Korean
War. He later retired from the Brookline Fire
Department as a lieutenant.
Duane J. “Pinky” Wilson, 74, of Wausau,
Wis. He served during the Korean War and
later served with the Wisconsin State Patrol.
Charles W. Wright, 82, in Springfield, Ohio.
He was a veteran of WW II and Korea. He
was a member of the Dayton Fire Department
and the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office. He
wrote the novel “Reflections in Smoke: A
Firefighter’s Story.”
Wilbur J. Zimmerman, 86, of Clearwater,
Fla. He was a WW II veteran of the South Pacific and later was stationed in Philadelphia. He
worked in his family’s construction business.
Anthony F. Zollo Sr., 83, of Readville, Mass.
A WW II veteran, he was a plankowner while
a member of the MarDet, USS Intrepid (CV- 11).
He later wrote two books about the exploits of
Intrepid during WW II: “U.S. Intrepid CV-11:
Day by Day” and “50th Anniversary USS
Intrepid: ‘The Fighting I.’”
